How Long Does a Personal Injury Case Take in Texas?
Here’s What to Expect
If you’ve been injured in an accident, one of the first questions you probably have (after “Am I going to be okay?”) is:
"How long is this whole legal process going to take?"
At NTX Law, we get it. When you’re hurting, missing work, and facing medical bills, waiting around for answers isn’t ideal.
The Short Answer: It Depends

Let's Break it Down:
• Quick Resolutions (minor injuries, clear fault):
If your case is straightforward and you’re recovering quickly, you might see a settlement in 3 to 6 months.
• Middle-of-the-Road Cases (broken bones, ongoing treatment):
These usually take 6 months to a year, depending on how long it takes to heal and gather the right documentation.
• More Complicated Cases (serious injuries, insurance pushback, or going to court):
If your case involves disputed liability, surgery, or a lawsuit, it could take a year or more to fully resolve.

What Can Slow Things Down?
• Medical treatment – It’s best not to settle until you’ve recovered or reached maximum medical improvement.
• Insurance games – Some companies like to stall or offer lowball settlements. (Don’t worry—we push back.)
• Blame debates – If there’s a question about who’s at fault, it takes more time to investigate.
• Going to court – If we can’t reach a fair settlement, going to trial adds some time, but we’ll fight every step of the way.
When are you compensated?

Once your case is wrapped up, most people receive their compensation within about 60 days. That gives time to finalize paperwork, pay off any medical liens, and cut your check.
